WATER AND SANITATION  POLICY

Water supply and sanitation (WSS) affect broad areas of human life. The provision of adequate WSS services plays a crucial role in preventive health care and is more generally a pre-requisite and indicator for socioeconomic development.

CONNECTING THE CUSTOMER

EWSA supplies electricity and water in accordance with different consumption patterns and categorization of Customers.

  • Premises (Residential and Public Services)
  • Diplomatic Service and 
  • Industries.

CHANGE ADDRESSES 

Customers need to inform the company in case of change of address. This is because customers who change address need a new contract since the recorded subscription number on their contract refers to the installation at their premises. 


The customer will need to write a formal letter addressed to the Customer Service of their respective Branch requesting the transfer, the subscription number of the new premise they intend to occupy, their name and the intended date when consumption is expected to commence.

Energy, Water and Sanitation Authority “EWSA” introduces the new electricity tariff for all industries.

The consumptions of our industrials customers will be calculated based on the following range:

Time Of Use Tariffs (Excluding VAT)
Time Rwf/kWh Increase (Deacrease
7h00 - 17h00 105 0%
17h00 - 23h00 140 33%
23h00 - 07h00 80 -24%

This will help industries to be more competitive in terms of reducing cost of electricity and give them opportunities to the regional market. This tariff will give Industrial Customers a privilege to choose freely what range of tariff preferred to minimize the production costs.

The implementation of the new tariff structure is effective from 1st May 2012.

World Water Day (WWD) is celebrated every year on 22nd March. The 2012 WWD marks the 20th World Water Day – an annual day declared by the United Nations that underscores water’s importance in our daily lives and our future.

This international event aims to draw attention to the importance of fresh water and to encourage the sustainable management of water resources, by highlighting a particular aspect of water. The theme chosen for 2012, “Water and food security”, seeks to further explore these two closely-related concepts, and the lack of which is causing severe crisis in increasingly more areas across the world.
