Kigali,
22nd February 2013- Wrap up and closing of Training
on “Non- Revenue Water for Kigali City Water Network
Technicians” took place at EWSA Training
Center, organized by Energy Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) in
collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Media was invited in the closing of the
training on Friday 22nd at 1:00 PM.

This workshop,
conjointly organized with JICA was intend to inform on lessons learnt,
achievements and challenges and disseminated the knowledge by 5 EWSA's
staff on
Non- Revenue Water Course benefited from in Japan matching with
training needs
assessment conducted in August 2012.
JICA accepted to
support the local training for 70 technicians working on Kigali City
Water
Network on the same topic.

The focus of this
training topics was to understand the general picture of Non-Revenue
Water
(NRW) and methodologies, effective and efficient leakage detection and
leakage
repairing, leakage survey, understanding how to use water network map
and
leakage control, to be able to manage/supervise service pipe
installation and
repairs in effective and efficient manner as well as to understand
methodologies of commercial loss reduction.
Participants included
EWSA staff, Kigali technicians as well as representatives from major
towns of
the country, and some private companies (plumbers) which work with EWSA
in
Water Distribution Unit, who will make a presentation during the
closing
session on their. Action plan tackle with the challenges of Non-Revenue
Water
(NRW), based on the learning’s from the training program.

The closing ceremony
and Certificates presentation was chaired by Chief Representative of
JICA and
Director General of EWSA.
