Tips for energy saving households

  • Swuitch off unnecessary lights,

  • Use energy saving bulbs and other electrical appliances,

  • Switch off cooking, lighting, ironing and other appliances when not in use, 

  • Ensure that fridges and deep freezers are properly closed.

Tips for energy saving in industries

  • Use any alternative energy sources, e.g.: Natural lighting using translucent roofing sheets,

  • Use alternative heating energy sources instead of electricity, e.g.: biogas or fire wood, etc.

  • Scheduled maintenance program should be undertaken often,

  • Locate the transformer/substations near the load center,

  • Maintain the peak load power factor as close to 1 unity, 

  • All the 3 phases' loads must be balanced,

  • Choose the motor size to match the load and use the highest motor speed,

  • Replace all energy wasting old appliances.


LOAN AGREEMENT FOR ELECTRICITY - ACCESS - ROLLOUT - PROGRAMME BECAME EFFECTIVE.

The loan Agreement between the Government of Rwanda and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) became effective on June, 9, 2010 for the sustainable energy development project Electricity Access Scale-up Roll-out Program (EARP).
