ELECTRICITY TIME OF USE TARIFFS FOR INDUSTRIES news and events at EWSA

Energy, Water and Sanitation Authority “EWSA” introduces the new electricity tariff for all industries.

This will help industries to be more competitive in terms of reducing cost of electricity and give them opportunities to the regional market.

 This tariff will give Industrial Customers a privilege to choose freely what range of tariff preferred to minimize the production costs.

The consumptions of our industrials customers will be calculated based on the following range:

17h00 - 23h00 168 33%
23h00 - 7h00 96 -24%

Customer Impact

As mentioned above Industrial Customers Contributes 30% towards the Total Electricity Consumption within Rwanda. The Top 5 Industrial Customers Contributes 40% towards the Industrial Consumption within Rwanda.

The implementation of the new tariff structure is effective from 1st May 2012.

LOAN AGREEMENT FOR ELECTRICITY - ACCESS - ROLLOUT - PROGRAMME BECAME EFFECTIVE.

The loan Agreement between the Government of Rwanda and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) became effective on June, 9, 2010 for the sustainable energy development project Electricity Access Scale-up Roll-out Program (EARP).
